The Merida Silex 4000 gravel bike was built by the Merida staff. The frame and fork are made of carbon, which makes them lightweight. Thanks to the Shimano GRX 400 2×10-speed drivetrain and Merida Comp SL wheels, the bike provides excellent performance during sport. The geometry is designed to suit both male and female morphology. It combines a sophisticated structure in the tubes that adds efficiency, as well as a plus of aerodynamics thanks to the profiles that adapt.
The Merida Silex 4000 gravel bike is inspired by the geometry of the most modern MTB, combined with a frame in the purest road style is the most versatile bike they have in Merida. In fact, the Silex has created a new concept within the brand, opening up a whole world of possibilities for those looking for adventure and fun on two wheels. With it you can combine tracks, roads and trails as it is prepared to adapt to all environments. Its unique M.O.R.E. design. Innovation makes the Silex a unique bike. A hybrid between MTB and road with the sole objective of being the most versatile bike. Its oversized steering head pipe is one of its most significant aspects. It is designed to offer an upright and comfortable riding position, but also to have no washers between the stem and the bearings. The Silex frame is designed to fit both 700 and 27.5″ wheels. The space left by the fork allows you to mount 2.2′ tires and 27.5″ wheels, as if it were an MTB. The idea is to allow you to adapt your bike to the use that best suits you. The frame is also prepared to mount mudguards, an indispensable accessory for winter days or if we are going to use the Silex as a means of transport in the city.
S-Flex technology makes the difference. The seatpost has a special design to allow greater flexibility and thus absorb much of the vibrations that reach the saddle. They have integrated the seatpost lock into the frame to make a cleaner and purer frame design. In addition, the fastener has a larger contact surface with the seatpost, which improves the grip. A simple and practical solution. The Silex uses thru axles on both wheels. The extra stiffness and added reliability are essential when choosing this standard. This bike is equipped with Disc Cooler technology. A heat sink lowers the temperature of the disc and caliper, optimising performance even on the longest descents. At lower temperatures the braking power is always higher and the hydraulic properties remain more constant. The Silex frame, of course, allows bottle cages to be mounted, but not in any way. Taking into account that we can mount different types of rack on the frame, we can vary the anchoring of the bottle cage to adapt it so that we can always carry everything we need. Even for extreme adventures, we can mount a second bottle cage on the bottom of the down tube.
